چکیده
In this report, we describe the appearance of the spinal vertebral body and epidural abscesses in a patient who underwent diffusion-weighted imaging of the spine and CT-guided aspiration of one of the abscesses. The abscesses were hyperintense relative to the surrounding tissues on diffusion-weighted images, and they appeared dark on apparent diffusion coefficient maps; these findings were consistent with those of published reports of the brain and liver.

Vertebral osteomyelitis and epidural abscesses caused by Prevotella oralis: a case report.
An interesting case of pyogenic vertebral osteomyelitis with multiple epidural abscesses caused by non-pigmented Prevotella oralis is reported. The patient was a 68-year-old female who presented to the emergency room (ER) with severe pain and tenderness in her lower back with fever. She had recently undergone esophagogastroduodensoscopy (EGD) for complaints of esophageal reflux, which showed su...
متن کاملLymphangioma of the Thoracic Spine with Epidural Compression: A Case Report
Lymphangiomas are benign lesions consisting of abnormal proliferations of lymphatic vessels. Lymphangiomas associated with bone involvement, particularly in vertebral bodies, accompanied by cord compression, are extremely rare, and our literature review yielded only a few relevant reports. We describe a 61-year-old man presenting with progressive paraparesis and sphincter disturbance of 5 month...
متن کاملRestricted diffusion within ring enhancement is not pathognomonic for brain abscess.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Recent experience suggests that diffusion-weighted MR imaging may be decisive in the differential diagnosis of ring-enhancing cerebral lesions. Whether restricted diffusion within a ring-enhancing cerebral mass lesion is pathognomonic for abscess was studied. METHODS Seventeen patients with ring-enhancing cerebral lesions (three abscesses, six glioblastomas, eight metas...
متن کاملSpinal MR findings in continuous epidural analgesia without infection.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Spinal epidural abscesses are major complications of epidural anesthesia, and their MR features have been reported. In patients receiving continuous infusion via an epidural catheter, MR findings may mimic those of spinal epidural abscess in the absence of infection. The purpose of this study was to assess the spinal MR findings associated with continuous epidural anesthe...
متن کاملRole of Apparent diffusion coefficient value in Diffusion Weighted imaging of MRI to assessment of radiotherapy efficiency in the patient with glioma tumor during treatment
Introduction: Glioma is the most common primary malignancy of cerebral neoplasms in adults, which in spite of therapeutic significant efforts, has a very poor prognosis. The current standard treatment of these patients generally includes surgery and radiotherapy or concurrent chemoradiotherapy with 6 courses of adjuvant use of temozolomide tabs. During these years, the nervous...
